Pre-Delivery Checklist

1. Measurement Check:

  • Confirm dimensions of the microwave: Ensure that the microwave’s width, height, and depth fit the designated space above your stove or cooktop.
  • Cabinet and venting clearance: Measure the space between your stove and the cabinets to confirm there is enough clearance (typically 30 inches) for the microwave to fit.
  • Pathway clearance: Clear the path from your home’s entry to the microwave’s final installation area by removing any obstacles.

2. Electrical Outlet:

  • Check outlet type: Ensure that there’s a dedicated 3-prong, grounded 120V electrical outlet in the cabinet above or behind the microwave installation area.
  • Power supply: Verify that the outlet is on a 20-amp circuit to handle the electrical load of the microwave.
  • Clear access to the outlet: Make sure the power outlet is accessible, and the plug is within reach from the installation point.

3. Venting Requirements:

  • Vent location: Confirm the existing venting setup (exterior venting or recirculating vent). Ensure you have the correct ventilation duct or recirculation filter based on your preferred configuration.
  • Check for blockages: If your microwave will vent externally, verify that your current ductwork is clear of blockages.

4. Remove the Old Microwave (if applicable):

  • Old microwave removal: If the delivery team will be removing your old over-the-range microwave, make sure it is disconnected, emptied, and ready for removal.
  • Wall or cabinet modifications: Ensure any brackets, screws, or bolts from the previous installation are removed or ready for use with the new microwave.

5. Clean and Clear Installation Area:

  • Clear surrounding space: Make sure the area around the stove and microwave is clean and free of items to give the installers room to work.
  • Stove protection: Consider placing a cover or towel over your stove to protect it during the installation process.

6. Appliance Handling:

  • Delivery route protection: Lay down floor coverings if needed to prevent damage to floors along the delivery route.
  • Securing pets: Ensure that pets are secured in another room to avoid interference during delivery and installation.

7. Special Instructions:

  • Access permissions: If you won’t be home for the delivery, arrange to provide access or have a responsible party available.

8. Confirm Delivery Date & Time:

  • Confirm delivery appointment: Double-check the delivery and installation date and time to ensure someone is available to receive the microwave.

 

 

What to Expect

  1. Arrival Window
    On the scheduled day, the delivery and installation team will arrive within the specified time window. You’ll typically receive a call or message about 30 minutes to an hour before their arrival to confirm their estimated time of arrival.

  2. Professional Installation
    Our team is trained to safely install your over-the-range microwave. They will handle all aspects of the installation, including securing the microwave in place, connecting it to the power source, and setting up any necessary venting.

  3. Old Microwave Removal (if applicable)
    If you’ve arranged for old microwave removal, our team will disconnect and take away your previous appliance. Ensure that the old microwave is cleared of personal items and ready for removal before the team arrives.

  4. Venting and Power Setup
    The installation team will ensure the microwave is properly connected to the existing electrical outlet. If your microwave is designed for exterior venting, they will connect it to the appropriate ductwork or set up a recirculating vent filter if venting outside is not possible.

  5. Securing and Aligning the Microwave
    Once the microwave is in place, the installers will ensure it is properly secured to your cabinets or wall brackets and aligned for both safety and visual appeal.

  6. Basic Functionality Check
    After installation, the team will test the microwave’s basic functions, such as power, lights, and venting, to make sure everything is working correctly before they leave.

  7. Packaging Removal
    The team will remove any packaging materials and clean up the installation area. If you wish to keep any packaging, let the team know in advance.

  8. Customer Inspection
    Before the installation is finalized, you’ll have a chance to inspect the microwave. The team will walk you through any features or questions you may have to ensure you are satisfied with the installation.

  9. Signature Confirmation
    Once installation is complete, you’ll be asked to sign a form confirming that the microwave was installed and inspected to your satisfaction.
